Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 June 2026
This privacy policy explains how Dog Business Hub (“we,” “I,” “the site”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use dogbusinesshub.co.uk and the related subdomains (guides., jobs., training., **start.**dogbusinesshub.co.uk).
We take privacy seriously. This page is written in plain English on purpose — if anything is unclear, email hello@dogbusinesshub.co.uk.
Who we are
Dog Business Hub is run by a sole trader based in Scotland, United Kingdom. The data controller for any personal data collected through this site is the operator of Dog Business Hub, contactable at hello@dogbusinesshub.co.uk.
What data we collect
We only collect what we need to provide the service. Specifically:
- Email address — if you sign up for the free checklist or any other email list, we collect your email address. We do not collect your name or any other personal details at signup.
- Subscriber activity — our email provider (MailerLite) records when emails are sent, opened and clicked. We use this in aggregate to see whether emails are working, not to track individuals.
- Server logs — like all websites, our hosting provider records standard request data (IP address, browser type, time of visit, pages requested). These logs are kept for a short period for security and operational reasons and are not used to identify individual visitors.
- Purchases — if you buy a guide, payment is handled by Payhip on their checkout. We do not see or store your card details. Payhip provides us with your email address and what you bought, so we can deliver the guide and respond to support questions. Payhip’s own privacy policy applies to the checkout itself: payhip.com/privacy.
- Direct correspondence — if you email us, we keep the email so we can reply and refer back to it later.
We do not currently run third-party advertising, retargeting pixels, or behavioural tracking on this site. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated and a clear cookie/consent banner will be added.
Cookies
The site uses a small number of cookies for essential functionality (for example, keeping you logged into WordPress if you are an editor, remembering whether you’ve dismissed a notice). It does not use marketing or advertising cookies.
If you sign up for the free checklist via the standalone landing page, MailerLite may set its own cookies to help complete the form submission. You can clear these at any time from your browser settings.
How we use your data
We use the data above only for the following:
- Sending you the free checklist and the welcome email series you signed up for
- Sending you occasional emails about new guides, new resources or improvements to the site, if you have opted in
- Replying to you when you contact us
- Delivering the guide you bought and providing support
- Keeping the site secure and working
We do not sell your data, swap it with other companies, or share it for advertising.
Who we share data with
We share data only with the small set of service providers we use to run the site. Each is bound by their own privacy commitments:
- MailerLite — email delivery and list management. mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Bluehost — web hosting. bluehost.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Payhip — payment processing for guides. payhip.com/privacy.
- Titan — our business email (hello@dogbusinesshub.co.uk).
We do not share your data with anyone else unless we are legally required to (for example, a lawful request from a UK authority).
How long we keep it
- Email list subscribers: as long as you remain subscribed, plus a short grace period after you unsubscribe in case you re-subscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.
- Customer records (paid guides): for as long as needed to provide support for what you bought, and to meet our accounting obligations (typically 7 years for tax record purposes in the UK).
- Direct correspondence: for a reasonable period after the conversation ends.
- Server logs: typically rotated within a few weeks by the host.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Be informed about how your data is used (this page)
- Access the data we hold on you
- Correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — ask us to delete what we hold, subject to any legal record-keeping obligations
- Restrict processing of your data
- Data portability — ask for a copy of your data in a usable format
- Object to processing for direct marketing — the unsubscribe link in every email is the quickest route, but you can also email us
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent was the basis for processing
To exercise any of these, email hello@dogbusinesshub.co.uk and we’ll respond within a month.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection. We’d rather you contacted us first so we can sort it, but you have that right regardless. ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is intended for adults thinking about working in the dog industry. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.
Updates to this policy
If we change how we collect or use data, this policy will be updated and the “Last updated” date at the top will change. For significant changes (for example, introducing analytics or advertising), we will notify subscribers by email.
